I truly had little hope, despite all the evidence in the polls and the passion I knew so many of us had for the man. I just knew something was going to prevent it, that the Republicans would try to steal the election again or that people just wouldn't get out there and make the change. But...
We did it.
For the first time in my life, I am proud of my country on this day. Hearing his speech echoing through the nearly silent streets of downtown Los Angeles, coming from every car radio and television, is a sound I'll never forget.
